WP Engine Web Hosting
WordPress is a versatile and popular Content Management System (CMS) that powers millions of websites. As a result, many web hosting services focus heavily on WordPress, with some, such as WP Engine, devoting all of their resources to it. WP Engine has high-quality, managed hosting that offers excellent uptime, WordPress-oriented security, cloud platform flexibility, daily backups, and other great features. It also has some minor downsides; For example, you'll have to go elsewhere for email accounts and domain names. Still, WP Engine has great plans that make the web host an Editors' Choice for WordPress hosting.

WP Engine's WordPress Plans
WP Engine has expanded its services since our last review, so it now has four web hosting tiers. Managed hosting is its base tier, and there are four sets of plans: Startup, Professional, Growth, and Scale.
The Startup plan (starting at $30 per month) offers one WordPress installation, 25,000 monthly visitors, 50GB of monthly data transfer, and 10GB of storage. In the new category is the Business plan (starting at $59 per month) which gives you three WordPress sites, 75,000 monthly visitors, 15GB of storage, and 125GB of monthly data transfer. Climbing the ladder is the Growth plan (starting at $115 per month) that includes 10 WordPress installations, 100,000 monthly visits, 20GB of storage, and 200GB of data transfer per month. The Scale plan (starting at $290 per month) includes 30 WordPress sites, 400,000 visits per month, 50GB of storage, and 500GB of monthly data transfer
WP Engine also has a custom plan: Dedicated Hosting Custom. A "scalable, high-performing, and hyper-secure solution," according to the company's webpage, this plan can accommodate any high-traffic website you have in mind - at one cost. However, this cost is unclear; You will need to call a WP Engine sales representative for detailed information and pricing.
All the tiers above managed hosting are based on the core features of that tier. For example, Managed Hosting Plus adds automatic plug-in updates, AI plug-in testing, auto-rollback when problems occur, and the ability to choose which plug-ins are auto-updated. Prices range from $34 per month (startup) to $310 per month (scale). If you need free web hosting or cheap web hosting, you should look elsewhere; WP Engine is a high-end managed WordPress host, so expect the higher-priced custom plans to come at the same high cost.
Entrepreneurs in need of extra security should check out Secure Hosting, which is the most expensive of WP Engine's standard hosting solutions. It is also the safest. Secure Hosting offers DDoS protection and WAF protection firewall for prices between $53 and $350 per month, depending on the plan. Overall, WP Engine has expanded well to accommodate a wide range of WordPress hosting solutions. Pressable, a rival managed WordPress host, has an equally robust hosting suite, but it increases dramatically in services and pricing.
All plans come with several excellent features, including a Content Delivery Network (CDN) for faster page load times, a staging environment so you can test site changes in a non-public environment, and large amounts of data to transfer. and WP Engine's LargeFS software for storing. Here's another important feature: You can select Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform as the backbone of your site, enabling scalability and tight security with no downtime. Cloudways, on the other hand, lets you choose from one of five cloud-based, infrastructure platforms.
If you run a small business that doesn't require enterprise-class WordPress hosting, we suggest checking out Co-Editors' Choice A2 by Category. Linux-based A2 offers four excellent WordPress hosting tiers (starting at $7.99 per month) that offer unlimited storage and monthly data transfers across the board. The plans top out with a $24.46 per month managed package that includes unlimited databases and websites.
The WP Engine Experience
As you might have guessed, WP Engine only offers WordPress-based shared and dedicated hosting. If you're looking for more traditional shared, VPS, or dedicated hosting, you should look elsewhere. Our review roundups are an excellent place to start.
WP Engine is a managed hosting environment specifically designed for WordPress installations, themes, and plug-ins. As you do with most other web hosts, you don't need to have WordPress installed; Content Management System preinstalled. It was refreshing to open our introductory email, see our login credentials, and then get started without any additional setup. In terms of creating content, WP Engine functions as any other self-hosted WordPress installation. It is very easy to create posts, pages, and galleries.
WP Engine automates many tasks, including daily site backups and plug-in updates, with Managed Hosting Plus plans and higher. It also has proprietary EverCache technology that combines caching and proxy servers to make pages load faster.
WP Engine does not offer email, nor does it register domain names. You'll need to sign up for electronic mail with a third-party company, and you'll need to register a domain name at NameCheap or another dedicated URL registrar.
WP Engine E-Commerce and Email Marketing
WP Engine is an eCommerce hosting tier, with plan prices ranging from $36 per month (startup) to $350 per month (scale). With eCommerce plans, you get one-click store creation, customized store themes, a WooCommerce template, and automatic plugin updates. The Professional, Growth, and Scale tiers also get Instant Store Search, a valuable search tool plugin powered by ElasticPress.
WP Engine specializes in WordPress hosting, so as you'd expect, you should tap the vast CMS plug-in library for eCommerce tools. You can find useful plug-ins from companies like Shopify, WooCommerce, and more. There are also many email marketing tools. Drip, DirectIQ, Mailflow, and many other companies offer WordPress plug-ins that let you take advantage of customers' email addresses to earn money.
eCommerce and email marketing companies usually charge you a small fee for their services. For example, Shopify has a starting price of $9 per month.
WP Engine's Security Features
If you want to sell products through your website, you will need a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate. It protects the data sent from the client's computer to your site's servers. Luckily, WP Engine includes one, free of charge, with your hosting subscription. Considering that some web hosts make you buy an SSL certificate, we give our hat to WP Engine for tossing it for free.
In addition, WP Engine performs daily malware scans to block the latest threats and has a firewall – which is updated daily. The web host also offers real-time threat detection, enterprise-grade firewalls, and free hacking remedies by WordPress-trained security experts.
WP Engine Excellent Uptime
Website uptime is one of the most important aspects of a hosting service. When your site is down, clients or customers may not be able to find you or access your products or services—and they may not return. We take web host uptime very seriously.
For this test, we used a website monitoring tool to track the uptime of our WP Engine-hosted test site. Every 15 minutes, the tool pings our website and sends alerts if we are unable to contact the site for more than a minute. We look at the most recent 14 days of data for each site we review. In our latest tests, WP Engine proved to be incredibly stable. WP Engine didn't go down even once during that two-week trial period. As long as it runs on this course, you can count on it to deliver a rock-solid web hosting experience.
WP Engine Customer Service
We contacted WP Engine several times during testing - morning and afternoon - to gauge the effectiveness of its support team. We called to find out how to install the new WordPress themes and then used web chat to contact a representative who would explain SSL certificates. The team answered both questions, and a few miscellaneous others, accurately and quickly, after a short wait time.
WP Engine has grown its support since we last reviewed it, providing 24/7 customer support to all customers via telephone and chat. This is a vast improvement over the tiered phone support offered earlier, in which only Growth and Scale customers previously had 24/7 phone support, while Startups had 7am to 7pm. (CST) the window for calls. WP Engine offers a healthy 60-day money-back guarantee.
WP Engine Worthy WordPress Hosting
WP Engine offers valuable and powerful WordPress hosting options, along with accessible and helpful customer service, reliable uptime, flexible plans, and powerful, cloud-based platform flexibility. If you have a serious, WordPress-powered project that you need to host, then WP Engine is an excellent web hosting service that should be on your radar. Provided you don't mind turning to a third party for domain names and emails, WP Engine has all your WordPress-related bases covered. If you want low-cost, non-enterprise-grade WordPress hosting that includes email and domain names, A2 is our other top choice for WordPress hosting.
